Phuket is a tourist haven. With more condos and resorts being bulit daily, there is a need for laborers. The Burmese make up the majority of this workforce. Packs of workers can be seen daily travelling to sites, overloaded on trucks and barely awake. Camps are set up by their 'bosses' and often have only minimal living conditions.
The Blue House and Bang Jo Learning Centre provide a safe environment for Burmese children and pregnant women. Funded only by donation, these facilities are working to maintain a creative learning atmosphere and manifest drive for a brighter future.
